TANG Contemporary Art has announced the launch of its new art installation titled Feng Yan Solo Exhibition by artist Feng Yan. The photographic exhibit will open already on February 13 and will feature 14 works from Yan’s previous photographic series, including Psychedelic Bamboo, Tang Mausoleum Long Grass, Monument, and Paintings.

Feng Yan is one of China’s most prominent contemporary artists today and is known for heavily engaging with minimalism, abstraction, and materialism in his photographic works. His works of art have been featured on the covers of Stanford University Press and New York Review Books, while his exhibitions were showcased in Asia, Europe, and Australia. While Yan has worked extensively in Shanghai and Beijing, Feng Yan Solo Exhibition will mark the artist’s first debut in the art spaces of Hong Kong.

“Feng Yan’s grandest bewilderment and interest lie in the sense of distance in photography: the reflection on distance, the distance of reality and psychology. His focus on distance gives his photography a clear sense of notion, making his choice and assessment unique,” comments fellow contemporary artist Ai Weiwei on Yan’s photography.
