Glass reviews Over the Influence Gallery’s new exhibitions MuchLove and CONNECTIONS
The Hong Kong gallery, Over the Influence are presenting two concurrent exhibitions to open at the end of this month. The gallery is pleased to exhibit the first solo exhibition of Mark Nixon in Hong Kong, Much Loved. At the same time, the group exhibition CONNECTIONS will open at the gallery’s recently extended space.

MuchLoved, exhibits 14 photographs from the series by Mark Nixon. The series includes the famed teddy from the TV show Mr Bean along with a stuffed bear that belonged to a close friend of the musician Bono. Each photograph is accompanied by a descriptive paragraph sharing the story of the stuffed animal and their owner.

CONNECTIONS will explore prevalent issues in society today, focussing on urbanisation and the human condition. Featuring new and icon works by Liu Bolin, Taku Obata, Daisuke, Tajima and Alexandre Farto aka Vhils. Through a multi-artist discussion of global social concerns and an exploration of traversing mediums, relationships and physical connections between humans and society will be dissected. In a world of saturation individuals struggle to navigate their own aspirations and the demands of everyday life. This exhibition hopes to reflect on ongoing societal problems.
