London Fashion Week goes digital for 2020 in light of Covid-19 pandemic

Last updated:

FOR fashion admirers, the news of Covid-19 lasting a little longer than planned could be disheartening – with numerous events being cancelled, fashion houses changing their schedules and London Fashion Week slowly fading from the horizon, the pandemic has caused a delay to our highly-anticipated fashion-calendar. The usual joys of sitting on the Frow, shopping the ‘latest trends’ or reporting opinions of what tops and what flops through Instagram deems no longer viable.

However, in unprecedented times brings novel pursuits – and fashion isn’t exempt. This year London Fashion Week is taking a new form, appearing in a digital-only format. Starting today, the online platform is accessible for free to the global public, giving everyone the chance to be part of the exuberant experience that is London Fashion Week.

Achieved through exclusive multimedia content from designers, creatives, brand partners, media, retailers and cultural institutions, the digital platform acts as a virtual meet-up point, offering interviews, podcasts, virtual showrooms and so much more whilst embracing the cultural commentary and creativity for which British fashion and London are known.

Combining womenswear and menswear, the website is split into three parts presenting over 100 designers and offering an array of events to stop you twiddling your collection-thirsty thumbs during lockdown:

  • The LFW Schedule, where you can tune into specific-timed shows, conversations, collection launches and events taking place from today until Sunday 14th. Find the official schedule here.
  • The explore section, a.k.a the home of LFW Digital, allows you to delve into the stories of both London’s individuals and businesses alike – featuring talks from the likes of Edward Enninful, podcasts by the BFC, designer diaries, games, highlights and so much more.
  • And finally, you can flick – or should we say click – through The Designer Profiles to enrich your knowledge on designers and their latest works.
