Christies Hong Kong announces results from Magnificent Jewels July auction

Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels July auction achieved US$39.8 million / HK$306,610,000 – continuing Christie’s leadership in offering the finest quality coloured diamonds and gemstones at auction.

Vickie Sek, Chairman, Jewellery Asia Pacific, commented “Collectors from 14 countries and five continents around the world bid enthusiastically for some of the most coveted jewels offered at Christie’s Hong Kong today, achieving strong prices for top quality coloured diamonds, jadeite and rubies.

“The top lot, a 12 carat fancy intense blue diamond was contested for by many collectors and achieved a superb US$15.9m. This exceptional result reflects the robust global demand in the market, and continues our leadership in offering the finest coloured diamonds at auction.”

Notable highlights from the collection were a a 12.11 Carats Fancy Intense Blue/IF Diamond Ring (HK$65,000,000–95,000,000/ US$8,000,000–12,000,000) from a distinguished private collector and a 19.53 Carats Burmese Star Ruby Pendant Necklace by Etcetera (HK$18,000,000 – 28,000,000/ US$2,300,000 – 3,500,000). An extraordinary creation by the famed jewellery designer Edmond Chin for Etcetera.
