British Fashion Council announce 2020 Fashion Awards
ONE of the highlights in the UK fashion calendar is the Fashion Awards courtesy of the British Fashion Council (BFC). The event draws global attention as that year’s best designers both at home and from abroad are awarded prizes with categories from best menswear designer to best streetwear brand.
In light of the circumstances and restrictions that this country and others face, the extravagant ceremony is taking a digital turn in December. Honouring the successes, innovation and those who have sought for positive change in the industry during these challenging times, all will be highlighted that evening.
Throughout of the evening, 20 individuals and brands will be awarded the prestigious 2020 Fashion Award. Unlike the stereotypical ceremony, the awards will be announced during the course of a short film that aims to document this unusual year in fashion.
Additionally, the evening will include for the third year the category New Wave: Creatives – a list of young, inspiring creatives from across the world. Not only does this event offer a larger platform for these people to be recognised, but also reinforces the BFC’s commitment to the next generation in fashion.
The British Fashion Council’s CEO, Caroline Rush commented, “What the past couple of months have shown us, is that the fashion industry is in need of a reset. This is why this year, under unique circumstances, we felt that it was important to recognise the people and businesses who played a role in some of the most important and challenging issues of our generation and champion those who raised the bar in areas such as diversity, sustainability, and community.”
