Givenchy unveils teaser capsule collection of Matthew M Williams first collection
AS THE new era of Givenchy begins, Matthew M Williams first collection as Creative Director created a seismic wave of excitement across the industry. Modern, sleek tailoring and elegant hardware creations lay the foundation of what is to come from the seventh designer of the French fashion house.
The new collection was modelled by the good and the great on Instagram, and the wait to get ahold of a piece is finally over.
Unveiling a teaser capsule collection of women’s and menswear, as well as accessories, from the spring-summer 2021 collection, an edited array of pieces will be available to purchase.
For women, long, fitted blazers and high-rise trousers lead the parade for smart attire, while casual denim is given an injection of intricate treatments to embroider the Givenchy 4G emblem in a repetitive pattern. In terms of outerwear, lightweight, three-quarter length coats in croc-print calfskin and urban windbreakers take centre stage this winter.
Similarly, strong, masculine tailoring is evident in the menswear, as a single-breasted blazer with the 4G emblem printed inside, is paired with classic-fit trousers with subtle metal detailing. Boxy shirts and over-sized parkas show the first glimpses of Williams’ transformation of Givenchy as he innovates the classics.
In terms of accessories, Williams introduces the new Antigona bag in black box leather with longer handles and the 4G padlock. Two cross-body bags, the unisex Vertical and the Antigona U for men are also among the highlights in the teaser collection.
Finally, no collection would be complete without statement shoes. The Lock ankle boot and the much-talked-about Marshmallow wedge slide for women can be yours today!
