TO MARK a century of Gucci, Alessandro Michele has introduced high-watchmaking into the luxury house’s orbit by launching a collection of sleek and sophisticated watches. Drawing from Gucci’s acute craftsmanship and heritage emblem’s, the range is comprised of four elegant lines, GUCCI 25H, G-Timeless, Grip and high jewellery watches.
Each watch is united with both Gucci’s Italian refinement and Switzerland’s prowess, with the watches crafted in the renowned Swiss watchmaking region. Construction and diamond setting takes place in the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds, dials are created with the utmost skill in the Canton of Ticino and decorative techniques are also applied in this region. Each piece fuses like a mosaic to form a magnificent timepiece.
The Gucci 25H is the centrepiece of the collection, possessing a light contemporary design, the watch is revealed in steel and pavé-set models, available in platinum and yellow gold. Whereas, the G-Timeless highlights Gucci’s whimsicality, with a delicate bee motif that allows the bees to gleam and move on the dial.
The Grip is constructed in five variations, imbedded with precious metals and fitted with a Jump Hour movement module which jumps forward every hour, allowing for a clear numerical display. Variations include an 18kt yellow gold watch, set with a continuous row of 44 baguette-cut diamonds and a Grip Sapphire design, forged in sapphire crystal and featuring a transparent strap adorned with the Interlocking G motif.
In the press notes, Gucci announces that each of the high-watchmaking collections, “each illuminates the creativity, craftsmanship and technical skill that has underpinned its creations since the luxury fashion house was established by Guccio Gucci in 1921.”
