THIS October Shangri-La The Shard launches a special Pink Afternoon Tea and cocktail as a way of supporting Guy’s Cancer breast cancer patients.
Found at the 35th floor of the hotel at TING Restaurant & Lounge, guests will be able to enjoy the Pink Afternoon Tea from 12 till 4pm every day.
Shangri-La’s famous loose-leaf teas will be accompanied by a selection of finger sandwiches and followed by fresh pink scones with cream, strawberry jam and pink grapefruit curd.
Not only the guests will be able to try a visually pleasing and delicious range of pink pastries, but also a lychee and rose sandwich and a sumptuous fig and hazelnut tart with gold leaf.
For enthusiasts of stronger drinks, the Restaurant created a special take on gin including Hayman’s Sloe gin, Hong Kong Baijiu, fresh pineapple and apple blossom flower or a glass of Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne.
The non-drinkers have not been forgotten and can indulge themselves in a Pink Passion mocktail made with grenadine, coconut cream and ginger ale, served over crushed ice.
The guests will be able to enjoy variety of pink-inspired artworks, including a floral window artwork; ‘The Wings of Hope’, illustrated by artist Niki Pilkington and two digital artworks at the lobby created in partnership with London Asian Contemporary Art (LACA). The décor of the Shangri-La has been changed to pink for the whole of October.
Recent studies have presented that 78% of women diagnosed with a breast cancer will survive 10 years or more thanks to the charities like Guy’s Cancer – which provides an exceptional care and support for the patients. The survival rates in the UK have doubled over the course of last 40 years and that is what is being celebrated during this October.
Available until the 7th of November, the pastries at the Pink Afternoon Tea are designed by breast cancer patients from Guy’s Cancer who paired up with Head Pastry Chef, Emma Watts, to create a unique range symbolizing strength and courage of cancer patients. A part of earnings from the sales will be donated to Guy’s Cancer to help continue the marvellous and inspiring work of the charity.
The Pink Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La The Shard, London will be priced from £62, and from £75 with a glass of Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne.
