IN CELEBRATION of the upcoming Qixi Festival, Glass looks toward legendary English jeweller De Beers and a trilogy from their stunning Forevermark collection, which emphasises a story-book like romance through the design of fine jewellery.
Divided into three different categories, the Forevermark collection merges delicacy with the upsmost intricacy, using metaphors emblematic of romance within each piece. For instance, the Avaanti collection references the ripple effect of events which can occur from life’s simple beginnings. Using curves and circular designs, the pieces reflect upon an ideal of perpetuity, hoping to inspire the wearer to release their inner power.
In the Icon collection, De Beers references two everlasting symbols of forever, including the stars of the South African sky and the outline of each diamond, and in the final collection, titled the Forervermark Swan, the jeweller uses more explicit implications of romance. Looking toward the Swan, nicknamed the ‘love bird,’ the designs hope to illuminate the inherent natural beauty of a loved one, and aim to memorialise shared moments of the past, and those to come in the future.
