SUMMER has just ended, but this doesn’t mean shades are out. One of the youngest Grammy winner’s Billie Eilish showcases the new Gucci frames as the brand announces her as their latest ambassador for the Gucci Eyewear campaign.
The iconic collaboration was introduced in a video format described as a “nod to film noir” and, as stated in a series of posts, was “envisioned by Alessandro Michele and captured by photographer Harley Weir under the art direction of Lina Kutsovskaya“. The narrative unfolds depicting Billie driving through Hollywood hills in a vintage muscle car as she displays “a selection of new retro-inspired styles” – set to reflect the cinematic tone and build a point of introspection.
In the opening scene of her mysterious journey, she is seen flashing off a large pair of caravan shades. Concentrated on her route, she soon notices that she is being followed, but no other than her döppelganger. Driving in an identical vehicle, but pink, this Billie wears pink cat-eye frames and pursues the chase until the black car stops at the edge of a hill overseeing the city lights.
The campaign perfectly balances the artist’s aesthetic whilst maintaining the Italian House’s cinematic flare following their recent Hollywood collection.
