Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo unveils Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition

FOLLOWING its immense worldwide success from December 21 to May 28, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo will welcome the historically well-loved exhibition, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams.

Revealing the luxury Maison’s creative continuity in a new light, the exhibit was reimagined through a fresh retrospective developed by curator Florence Müller and designed by architect Shohei Shigematsu, Partner of OMA.

Described as “an exceptional event that celebrates the sincere, singular ties between Dior and Japan”, this time, the production will demonstrate a new scenographic narrative that continues to remark on the brand’s storied relationship with Japan’s past and present cultural contexts.

The visitors will discover a recollection of more than 75 years of bold passion and wonderful discoveries initiated by the founding couturier and later followed by his predecessors: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

Novel reflections on the House’s history and ongoing ingenuity are also on display such as Miss Dior and J’adore perfume worlds are exhibited alongside iconic leather designs like the Lady Dior bag reimagined into the Dior Lady Art and Lady Dior As Seen By projects.

In addition to that, all while paying tribute to the House’s compelling interest in the creative richness of Japan, the exhibition will showcase a selection of exquisite works from the MOT’s collection, as well as pictures by Japanese photographer Yuriko Takagi – specifically created for this exhibition and its poster. This is definitely not one to miss!
