AS Dior stepped onto the runway this Paris Fashion Week, the collection showcased an elegantly seductive presence met with a flurry of bold patterns, maxi skirt lengths and warming deep shades in their autumn-winter 2023 collection.

Maria Grazia Chiuri expertly creates an opportunity for her clothes to reflect the relationship between body shapes and contours with fashion. By revisiting styles from the 1950s, the heart of this ready-to-wear women’s line, the history of Dior flourishes in a fresh-faced, contemporary way.

With this new exploration, we delve deeper into their French fashion codes, particularly surrounding the three extraordinary personalities: Catherine Dior, Édith Piaf and Juliette Gréco. Evident through the iconic silhouettes of cinched trench coats, A-line cuts of dresses and modest headwear accessories, each of which oozes Dior.

A new style for Dior sees the over exaggerated puffer jackets, a staple for the autumn-winter season, carrying a quilted effect across the material and are finished off with a clip belt, each of which paired perfectly with an on trend cargo styled skirt.

The flora motifs hand-picked by Monsieur Dior have been redesigned from the archive so that the texture of the mottled fabric is interwoven with metallic threads, tricking the eye to make the material seem alive – making the canvas malleable, erasing the contours and maintaining an abstractly unique effect.

The forefront of this collection is the selected primary colours like ruby, emerald, topaz yellow and blue, alongside a subtle motif of tartan patterns to dress the coats, jackets, and straight skirts – a notable addition of delicate embroidery throughout the looks champions small bursts of light.

In choosing such a summery colour-way, Dior strives towards a highly saturated winter this year, diminishing the gloomy days with this encapsulation of spring days.

A kaleidoscopic image of femininity is celebrated by Dior, drawing upon powerful icons to unlock the emotional paths towards new generations of women, actively shaping our future. By portraying independence through the sharpened silhouettes, this collection carries something for every woman.
