TRANSPORTING onlookers to a celestial landscape, Emporio Armani’s autumn-winter 2024 collection pays homage to the ever-expansive luminosity of the night sky. Emphasising otherworldly opulence, the brand carefully intertwines constellation-inspired motifs with quintessential Italian elegance for AW24.

The collection – titled Night Glow – is noticeably moody and utilises an intense colour palette of greys, jade green, ultra-violet, mauve and a dominant black.

However, through delicate detailing, garments are brought to life once lit up by the runway’s soft, white light. Echoing the moon’s glow, pieces scintillate and sparkle underneath Emporio Armani’s blanket of stars.

Despite being inspired by the night sky, the collection offers attire suitable for any time of day. Looking to emancipate women from restrictive clothing, the brand underlines the importance of freedom and versatility in one’s ensembles.

The presentation communicates a light, carefree feminine allure by pairing trousers with flowing dresses and coats with enveloping, ample shapes. Meanwhile, crocheted waistcoats follow jumpsuits and loose trousers for further adaptability.

Adopting a similar playfulness with its use of texture, the collection features shiny cire, washed and matt wools, compact and shiny wools, textured jacquards and multi-coloured faux fur.

Staying true to its roots and infallible design codes, Armani showcases its ability to work across fabrications. With many brands opting to completely reinvent and reinterpret traditional silhouettes, Armani understands that maturity and evolution can also be demonstrated through consistent refinement.

Working to subtly adapt its designs from previous collections, AW24 exhibits the brand’s dedication and expertise.

For example, silhouettes remain strong and sleek. Prominent shoulders, form-fitting gowns and rounded skirts demonstrate the structural focus of the latest offering.

Once combined with flat, delicate shoes and pleated bags, the clothes embody Armani’s distinct design approach. With accessory pieces being adorned with feathers, sequins and elaborate embroideries, looks are glamorous yet sophisticated in true Armani style.

To close the show, the models paraded down the runway holding umbrellas to protect them from bursts of silver glitter rain. Ethereal and radiant, the latest collection is a beautiful ode to the astral plane and its shining inhabitants.
